In 2022, Nitte (DU) has reaffirmed its unwavering
commitment to Sustainable Development
Goal 2 (SDG-2) - Zero Hunger, embarking on
a transformative journey that surpasses all
previous endeavors. Our collective efforts stand
as a beacon of hope and a testament to our
unyielding dedication to ensuring food security
and eliminating hunger by 2030. SDG-2 serves
as a rallying call to address the urgent global
crisis of food security and malnutrition. It is a
clarion call to action, emphasizing that every
individual worldwide should have equitable
access to wholesome and nourishing food to
lead a healthy and dignified life. In 2022, we have
renewed our pledge to champion this cause with
a renewed sense of purpose.
Stark reality confronts us: hunger continues
to cast its shadow over millions of lives. With
nearly 690 million individuals suffering from
undernourishment globally, the need to address
the hunger crisis has never been more pressing.
It is imperative that we confront these challenges
head-on and work tirelessly to reverse the
alarming trends threatening our world. Within
the context of India, our nation faces its own
unique nutritional challenges, demanding
immediate attention and innovative solutions.
Recent data reveals the gravity of the situation,
with millions of people affected by malnutrition
and anemia, and a significant portion of our
children suffering from stunted growth and
wasting. Our commitment to SDG-2 resonates
even louder within the Indian landscape, urging
us to take proactive steps toward change.
In 2022, Nitte (DU) witnessed an outpouring
of enthusiasm, creativity, and action from our
various colleges and institutes. From reducing
food wastage on our campuses to advocating for
sustainable, nutrient-rich, and affordable food
options, we have transcended the boundaries of
our past achievements. Together, we have forged
a path that leads to a future where no one goes
to bed hungry. Through groundbreaking events
and initiatives, we have not only heightened
awareness but also galvanized our community
to actively engage with the pressing issues of
food security and malnutrition.
