The libraries of Nitte Deemed to be University serve as pivotal academic resource centers for all constituent colleges, encompassing a total carpet area of 51,000 square feet devoted exclusively to library services. Administered by qualified professional librarians and supported by competent staff, these facilities ensure seamless, efficient, and uninterrupted operations. They play an indispensable role in the acquisition, organization, and dissemination of diverse information resources across multiple formats, thereby robustly underpinning the University’s teaching, learning, and research endeavors. The collections, comprising books, journals, electronic resources, and reference materials, are meticulously curated to correspond with academic programs and evolving research priorities. Too optimize resource management, the libraries employ an Integrated Library Management System that facilitates systematic cataloging, monitoring, and utilization of materials. Holdings are continuously updated to accommodate curricular revisions and emerging areas of scholarship.

Beyond conventional services, the facilities provide digital learning zones, dedicated reading areas, and access to online databases, fostering an environment conducive to rigorous academic inquiry and research.

In alignment with the University’s commitment to social responsibility, library access is extended to the public, particularly students from surrounding communities. The “Policy for Access of Library Resources to Users from Outside Nitte (DU)” delineates the terms governing external access. Through this initiative, the University cultivates shared learning, inclusivity, and meaningful community engagement, reinforcing its libraries as accessible bastions of knowledge and intellectual development.

Nitte (Deemed to be University) publishes the Journal of Health and Allied Sciences, an open-access, peer-reviewed journal that offers free educational and research content to the public. The journal is accessible online without requiring login credentials or institutional affiliation, thereby extending its reach to health professionals, students, researchers, and lifelong learners beyond the University. By disseminating scholarly work in health and allied sciences, the journal supports evidence-based practice and continuous professional development. Hosted and maintained by the University, this initiative reflects its commitment to promoting public access to high-quality educational resources.

Nitte (Deemed to be University) places strong emphasis on the development of soft skills and life skills across its constituent institutions to support staff in achieving a healthy work–life balance. The University actively encourages the enhancement of mentoring and teaching competencies, along with the adoption of digital innovations to strengthen instructional practices. A variety of initiatives are regularly organized to advance these objectives. The Staff Development Centre at Nitte DU conducts numerous soft skills and faculty development programs throughout the year, covering areas such as classroom management, mentoring strategies, Train the Trainer (TTT) sessions on Creating Blended Learning Resources (CBLR), outcome-based education, advanced Excel applications, effective Microsoft PowerPoint presentations, communication and presentation skills, and the application of qualitative research methodologies.

NUelearn is Nitte University’s advanced e-learning platform, developed to enhance the teaching and learning experience for both students and faculty. It offers a comprehensive range of tools, including interactive learning modules, recorded lectures, and online assessments, enabling flexible, anytime-anywhere access to learning. By incorporating features such as discussion forums and rich multimedia resources, NUelearn promotes effective communication between instructors and learners, encourages collaborative engagement, and supports improved learning outcomes. This initiative reflects Nitte University’s strong commitment to leveraging technology for high-quality education and continuous improvement.

The Central Research Laboratory (CRL), established in 2007 serves as a central hub for research support across its constituent colleges. Equipped with advanced facilities and a state-of-the-art animal house, the CRL promotes high-quality interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary research, collaborating with national and international organizations. It actively supports study design, grant applications, and has secured funding from agencies like BRNS, ICMR, NIH, DRDO, and VGST. The Centre also encourages UG and PG students, both internal and external, to undertake research and consultancy projects. Complementing this, NUCSER offers world-class labs in molecular biology, biotechnology, and computing, fostering a strong research culture in biomedical sciences and food safety while emphasizing ethical research practices.

Sports facilities help the students to involve in sports that are perfect for uniting, strengthening and disciplining the students. The playground facility is offered free of cost to neighbouring schools for annual sports events.

Nitte University in collaboration with the NITTE-GOK Centre of Excellence in Aquamarine Innovation (NITTE-GOK CoE AQUAMARIN) and the Kerala Forest and Wildlife Department, Kasaragod Division, organized an Awareness Programme on Mangrove Restoration at Nagaravaram, Pallam, Kasaragod, on 17th October 2025. The programme underscored the ecological significance of mangroves in sustaining coastal ecosystems and aimed to foster public awareness while encouraging active community participation in mangrove conservation and restoration initiatives. The event witnessed enthusiastic engagement from over 40 participants, reflecting the shared commitment of the University and its partners to environmental education, research, and community-oriented conservation efforts. Through such initiatives, Nitte University continues to reinforce its dedication to promoting sustainable environmental stewardship and fostering a culture of ecological responsibility within the local community.

The NITTE–GoK Centre of Excellence in Aquamarine Innovation (NITTE-GOK CoE | AQUAMARIN), hosted at the Nitte University Centre for Science Education and Research (NUCSER), organized a 5-km walkathon on 28 December 2025 at Tannirbavi Beach under the theme “Together Against Overfishing.” The programme aimed to raise awareness about the adverse impacts of overfishing and to advocate sustainable fishing practices. The event witnessed the active participation of over 250 individuals, including students, fishermen, and members of the public. Participants carried placards conveying messages on marine conservation and responsible fisheries management, reinforcing the collective commitment to protecting marine ecosystems and promoting sustainable use of ocean resources.

The Nitte Climate Action Programme (NCAP) is a five-year initiative initiated in 2023 with the objective of providing free climate change education to schoolchildren and promoting youth-led climate action. In 2025, the programme created climate awareness among over 10,000 students from approximately 40 schools across Mangalore. NCAP focuses on enhancing climate literacy, encouraging positive behavioural change, and fostering innovation among young learners.

The programme was formally launched by Nitte University on 25 August 2025 at the K S Hegde Auditorium, Deralakatte, reaffirming the institution’s commitment to advancing climate education and contributing to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.

The NSS Unit of Nitte Institute of Professional Education (NIPE), in collaboration with Global TV, Lions Club Mangaluru, Together We Grow, Nitte Daan Fest, ARM News, Sashwatha Seva, and Global Gyan Academy, organised a 7-day Annual Special Camp from December 27, 2024, to January 2, 2025. The camp was held at Dr. M. Ramanna Shetty Memorial English Medium High School (MRSMEMS), Tapovana, Thokur, Mangaluru. Centered on the theme “Communicating the Sustainable Development Goals,” the program aimed to create awareness and promote community engagement through various educational and outreach activities.

Nitte University conducted a webinar titled “The Nexus between Microplastics, Marine Ecosystems, and Human Health” on 18 December 2025. The session was led by Dr. Gunimala Chakraborty, who discussed the sources, distribution, and occurrence of microplastics, along with their impacts on marine ecosystems and human health. Through relevant case studies and clear illustrations, the webinar highlighted emerging environmental and public health concerns associated with microplastic pollution. The session was attended by 93 participants, including students, faculty, and staff. To ensure wider outreach and continued learning, the recording of the webinar has been made available on the official Nitte University YouTube channel.

The NSS Cell of NUCSER organized a five-day special camp from June 13 to 17, 2025, at Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat Higher Primary School, Innoli, Ullal Taluk, under the theme “Aatadinda Paata.” The camp focused on moral, scientific, and social responsibilities through talks, workshops, hands-on science activities, competitions, and health initiatives aligned with multiple Sustainable Development Goals. Key highlights included a dental health camp, nutrition and BMI assessment, World Albinism Awareness Day activities, and a “Day as a Scientist” program. The camp concluded with a valedictory ceremony, donation of essential resources to the school, and prize distribution to participating students.

Nitte University organised a Working Science Model Exhibition on Climate Change on 10 November 2025 at the Avishkar Auditorium, ABSMIDS, Deralakatte. The exhibition was open to all student participants and provided a platform to showcase innovative and practical science models addressing climate change–related challenges

A total of 30 student teams participated in the exhibition. The University felicitated the students in recognition of their innovative, impactful, and solution-oriented projects, encouraging scientific inquiry and climate action among young learners.

The NSS Unit of Nitte Usha Institute of Nursing Sciences, in association with Dr. M Ramanna Shetty Memorial English Medium High School, Thokur organized a one-day workshop on “Apathbandhu - First Aid and Emergency Training for Teachers” on 11th October 2025 at NU MEDISIM, Justice K S Hegde Charitable Hospital, Deralakatte. Resource persons, Dr. Fatima DSilva, Principal, NUINS and Mrs. Vickypriya, Lecturer, Medical Surgical Nursing along with NSS Program Officers conducted the sessions. The training covered the application of bandages; first aid in burns and fractures; first aid management of electric shock and hemorrhage; management of snake bites, dog bites and insect bites; first aid in choking and drowning; first aid management in seizures and unconsciousness and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).

The Department of Paediatrics, KSHEMA under the aegis of the Indian Academy of Paediatrics and National Neonatology Forum organised an Advanced NRP Provider Course at NU-MEDISIM on 25th February 2025.Prof. (Dr) Leslie Lewis, HoD, Paediatrics, KMC Manipal was the lead instructor. He was assisted by Dr Mithun H K, Assoc. Professor, Paediatrics, Yenepoya Medical College, Dr Rajendra Prasad, Asst. Professor, Paediatrics, KMC Manipal, Dr Rahul Illaparambath, Neonatologist, IQRAA International Hospital & Research Centre, Kozhikode, Kerala. The program was attended by 25 delegates from various institutions in Dakshina Kannada.

The Red Cross Unit of NRAM Polytechnic in collaboration with the Anti-Drugs Committee and Kadthala Grama Panchayat, organized an Anti-Drugs Awareness Jatha at Kadthala on 30th December 2025. Students spread awareness through messages, banners and exhibits, which fetched a good response from the public.

The Department of Public Health Dentistry, AB Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences in association with the Indian Cancer Society and Dept. of Social Work, Mangalore University, conducted a free Anti-tobacco Awareness & Oral Health Awareness Camp on 5th December 2025 at Sri Rama High School, Kalladka. Oral health & oral cancer awareness was provided, emphasizing on the ill effects of tobacco, importance of refraining from tobacco related habits and measures to quit tobacco habit. Outreach program by the Gender Sensitization Cell

The Gender Sensitization Cell of NUCSER visited the Bhagini Samaj Girls’ Orphanage in Jeppu, Mangalore on International Girl Child Day - 11th October 2025 to raise awareness on sustainable menstrual hygiene and to provide them with essential items necessary for their everyday lives and academics. The orphanage has 55 girls of different age groups under its care and support.
