Care and Concern for the Employees and their FamiliesDuring COVID-19, Nitte (DU) supported staff: paid full salaries despite global job loss, and granted DA increments to counter personal and financial pandemic impacts. Hired 386 permanent employees—81 as teachers, 305 in non-teaching roles. All employees received three free COVID-19 vaccine doses. Provided jobs to affected family members, free housing, transport, fee discounts, and elderly care as per university policy.

Labor and Employer RelationsThe group insurance health care policy is provided by the university to cover the medical expenses of the staff and their family members. The university offers conveyance services to its employees for their daily commute to and from the workplace. It also allows the professionals to run their own businesses along with the job provided by the university. The relationship between the labor and the employer is stressfree and of mutual respect.
Nitte Institute of Physiotherapy initiated its Silver Jubilee with a dynamic start - a 2-day workshop on ‘Therapeutic Taping’ on Jan 4th & 5th, 2022. Prof (Dr) Dhanesh Kumar K U, Principal, delivered the welcome address at Chintana Hall, Justice K S Hegde Charitable Hospital. Eminent Physiotherapist and Chief Instructor at the Institute of Manual Therapy and Taping (IMTT), Prof. Syed Rais Rizvi, led the workshop. The workshop was designed to deliver handson training in areas of rigid taping, clinical applications of athletic taping, Kinesio-taping, and its applications. A transcript bearing the course accomplishments and certificate was given to each delegate during the valedictory function by the resource person and Principal, NIPT. A total of 35 delegates, including interns, postgraduate students, and staff participated in the workshop.

Encouraged them to move forward, addressing their queries. The session was attended by all II PUC Science students.
Nitte Usha Institute of Nursing Sciences and NU-MEDISIM jointly organized a refresher training program for rural volunteers in first aid & emergency care on 5th March 2022 at the Skill Center of Justice KS Hegde Charitable Hospital as part of the Nitte Smart Health Village Project - ‘Apathbandhu’.
Prof. (Dr) Fatima Dsilva, NUINS Principal, led the event, highlighting the refresher training’s purpose. Dr. Neetha Kamath assessed prior volunteer knowledge with a pre-test. 10 Nitte village volunteers, trained in August 2021, retook the refresher to reinforce skills like Wound Dressing, CPR, Trauma Care, and more.
The training program ended with a valedictory session. Prof. (Dr) Satheesh Kumar Bhandary, Nitte DU’s Vice-Chancellor, was the Chief Guest. He highlighted the need to train diverse people in life-saving skills. He commended the Anaesthesiology Dept. and Nursing College for their community service.

Finite Loop Club, NMAMIT, Nitte under Centre for Student Innovations (CFSI) - NMAMIT successfully conducted ‘Javascript Mastery’ - Hands-on JavaScript Workshop on 12th March 2022. The resource person for the workshop was Mr. Shashank S Shetty who is an alumnus of NMAMIT and is currently working as a Senior Software Engineer at MakeMyTrip.

The Placement and Career Guidance Cell of NUCSER organized a Campus Recruitment drive for the final year undergraduate students of NUCSER and NGSMIPS on 20th April 2022.
M/s. Bio-Genics Lifecare, an authorized life science and diagnostic marker distributor represented by Mr. Chandrashekar B.S, Sales Head, and Mr. Vijay Kumar B.U, Marketing Head, visited the institution and conducted the interview for the position of Business Development Executive. Around 21 students participated in the recruitment drive out of which four students were qualified for the HR round.
The overall experience and feedback from the Bio-Genics team were positive, as their need to quest for appropriate talent to drive their business objectives was fulfilled by our students. The program was coordinated by Dr. Akhila D.S., Member Secretary of the Institutional Placement Cell. Prof. Dr. Anirban Chakraborty thanked the team of Bio-Genics for the confidence reposed in Nitte students and appreciated their efforts in coming over and conducting the interview.
An interactive session with alumni was held on Monday, 27th June 2022 at the college premises. Alumni Spoorthi Thej, Content Producer for IVM Podcasts and Content Creator for Spoorthi Speaks, and Neel Kote, Creative Director, Throttelman Films spoke to students about their journey.
Spoorthi spoke of her beginnings as RJ for Big FM, and then as a compere and show host at social and corporate events, to branching out into a content creator, creating the popular character Kundapur Magu, and now also being part of a Kannada web series.
Neel, a broadcast student while at NICO, began his career as a freelancer for Decathlon, went on to work on a biography for well-known Builder Dayanand Pai, and is now part of several ad films and corporate films. He shared with students some of the work done by his Production House and spoke of the challenges they encountered while making these films.
The event ended with a question-answer session, with both Spoorthi and Neel enthusiastically answering questions posed by students. Both of them impressed upon students the need to work on a portfolio while in college. The event was jointly organized by the Placement Cell and Alumni Cell of NICO.

Nitte DU’s Staff Development Centre held a Canva training on June 10, 2022, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Prof Raviraj, NICO Head, led. 31 faculty from different colleges participated at NICO’s Multimedia Lab.
The program began with a welcome address by Sadhana Deshmukh, Director, SDC after which, participants were guided to log in to CANVA and were given small assignments like designing a business card, a birthday invite, and a conference poster.
The participants were actively involved in the training and enjoyed the process of designing. A pre-test and post-test were conducted and feedback was documented by the Staff Development Centre.

Manager at Syngene International Ltd., led the program. It aided undergrad and postgrad students in refining job application writing. Prof. Smitha Hegde, Dy. Director, NUCSER, welcomed and appreciated the speaker
Mr. Ronald Mascarenhas introduced Syngene International Ltd. The session highlighted crafting a strong resume and impressing interviewers. He emphasized sought-after traits like intellectual ability, positive attitude, and practicality. Tips on answering common and soft questions were given.
The session was very interactive and students participated enthusiastically. Dr. Akhila DS, Member Secretary of the institute’s Placement and Career Guidance Cell coordinated the program and proposed the vote of thanks.
A 2-Day Faculty Development Workshop on Problem-Based Learning by A.B.Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences occurred on Aug 29-30, 2021. Prof. (Dr). J. Sabarinathan and Prof. (Dr).
