Structured employment practices are in place through service rules, policy framing, and implementation. The Staff Development Centre of the University conducts programs on a regular basis to enhance staff competencies, enabling them to train students according to current market trends. The curriculum is designed in alignment with the revolutionary National Education Policy of the country. Its structure promotes holistic development, provides flexibility for students to choose subjects of interest, and encourages experiential learning to acquire practical skills. State-of-the-art facilities have been created to impart these skills effectively. Soft skills and employability training are provided to students to meet job market demands. With a growing demand for skilled workers, upskilling has become essential. Higher education equips students with advanced skills, mobility, and a global outlook. To promote SDG 8, institutions under Nitte (Deemed to be University) in Mangaluru, India, organized workshops, faculty development programs, skill development initiatives, academic meets, and co-curricular programs from January to December 2025, focusing on education, research, innovation, and community engagement. Below is a concise summary:

The staff development cell (SDC) of Nitte (DU) trains its staff to access new technologies and enhance their career which also help them to ensure dignity at their workplace. In the year 2025 SDC have conducted 69 Faculty Development Programs and 36 Capacity Building Programs. The cell conducted mutiple staff induction training sessions for the year 2025.

• As part of the ongoing effort of the Atal Innovation Mission (AIM), NITI Aayog, to promote innovation, creativity, and problem-solving abilities among students, the ATAL Tinkering Lab (ATL) workshop was held at Dr. MRSM English Medium High School on January 9, 2025 by faculty member and students of Nitte Institute of Professional Education

• Nitte Institute of Physiotherapy in association with Karnataka Allied & Healthcare Professionals Association (KAHPA) organized a pre-conference workshop on Entrepreneurship in Physiotherapy for UG and PG students of Physiotherapy on 16th January 2025



• On January 22, 2025, the Department of Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics at ABSMIDS conducted a high-impact, hands-on workshop on the Primescan Intraoral Scanner, enhancing practical skills and clinical proficiency. This initiative marked the 40th year of departmental excellence, reinforcing its commitment to cutting-edge dental education and technology adoption.



• The Institution's Innovation Council of Nitte Institute of Architecture, in collaboration with Infrastructure One Design School, Hubli organized an intensive two-day, 20-hour workshop on 25-26 January 2025, focused on innovation and entrepreneurship. Led by Ar. Jitendra Nayak, the workshop aimed to nurture entrepreneurial thinking among students and faculty.



• The Centre for Indian Knowledge System, Nitte UniversityNitte University organized a one-day Executive Development Program (EDP) on 11th July 2025. The program, titled “Building Resilience for the Sustained Success of an Organisation: Techniques, Cases, Practices and Benefits”, was designed to benefit both academia and industry professionals.



• Nitte University organized the ATAL Faculty Development Program (FDP) on “Applications of Machine Learning Techniques in Healthcare” from 8th to 13th December 2025, equipping faculty with advanced knowledge and practical insights into machine learning applications in the healthcare sector



• Nitte University organized a five-day Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on “Artificial Intelligence Foundations for Engineers” from 15th to 19th December 2025, providing faculty members with foundational knowledge and practical insights into AI technologies for engineering applications.

• The Upskilling & Certification Program of the Life Sciences Sector Skill Development Council (LSSSDC) under the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) 4.0: “Pharmacovigilance - Case Processing (Incidents/Adverse events using software including AI tools)” was successfully conducted from 10th to 14th March 2025 at NGSMIPS in collaboration with the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI), New Delhi, Karnataka State Pharmacy Council (KSPC), Bengaluru and LSSSDC.



• Department of Food Safety & Nutrition successfully conducted an industry-academia training program on Food Safety Supervision (FSS) and Practical Quality Assurance on 3rd March 2025. The program brought together industry professionals and academic experts, delivering hands-on training, and enhancing practical skills in food safety management, contributing to capacity building and sectoral impact.



• An Executive Development Program titled “A Smart Approach to Research Communication: Innovate, Navigate, Knowledge” was organized on 10th June 2025 by the Dept. of Community Health Nursing in association with the Institution’s Innovation Council, Nitte University at the Learning Centre, NUINS to build research and academic competencies among students & faculty.
